There's no single "silver bullet" solution to justice reform. But a handful of changes have the potential for systemic-level  improvements. Key reforms in specific cities and states - are making a huge difference in reducing loss of life, injury and public trust. Also, the president has recently signed important reform legislation. Here are the most promising solutions:

• National Standards - promoting de-escalation 

• National Standards - promoting life preservation 

• Better screening of recruits - to remove racial and sex bias 

• Mandate transparency in all criminal cases 

• Citizen Oversight Commissions are cracking the wall of silence & secrecy 

• Promote laws that require police to intervene when other police violate the law

• Establish laws that protect citizens who monitor police and government

• Some states are passing laws to stop deadly no-knock warrants 

• Dash  cams,  Vest  Cams,  Public  Security Cams really work when they are not compromised  

• Some states have new training - focusing on de-escalation

• Ongoing Audits of police, prosecutors, and judges

• Blockchain & Smart City technology can dramatically improve policing

• Some states establish criminal accountability for rogue police, crime technicians

• New laws that prevent rogue police from working new cities after being fired

• Independent investigations of police shootings becoming the standard

• More corrupt police chiefs and sheriffs, prosecutors, and judges are going to prison

• The Innocence Project has helped get 375 people out of jail using DNA testing

• Cutting-edge discussions on safer ways to detain citizens 

• Police are being monitored more closely by citizens 

• More states are passing laws to protect citizens who record police 

Reforms incorporating the above changes are having extraordinarily positive impact on those states, counties and cities that choose to employ them.  But the resistance by police ranks, police unions and police culture is strong.  And because of the political environment around the country - public discussion and education are challenging.
